An Autobiography by Tim Kimber
Coming SoonTHE MUSCLEBEHINDGOLD’S GYM
When Dreams and Destiny Collide
Before Gold’s Gym became one of the most recognized names in fitness, there were people behind the brand who believed in what it could become.
Tim Kimber was one of them.
This is his firsthand story of bodybuilding, friendship, business, unforgettable characters, big risks and the people who became the real muscle behind Gold’s Gym.
Stories from inside the Mecca of Bodybuilding.
The Book
Before Gold’s Gym was a global name, it was a dream.
Pete, Ed and I may have been the owners, but we never built Gold’s Gym alone.
Without our staff showing up every day, our members walking through the doors, and our licensees and franchisees believing in the name and carrying it around the world, Gold’s Gym could never have become what it did.
Then there were the bodybuilders, athletes, photographers, artists, promoters, vendors, friends and countless others who became part of the Gold’s Gym family along the way.
Every one of them played a part.
Together, they were the muscle behind Gold’s Gym.
In The Muscle Behind Gold’s Gym, Tim Kimber takes you behind the famous logo—the friendships, risks, disagreements, laughter, loyalty and decisions that helped turn a small Venice gym into an international name.
This is the story of the people who made it happen.
The Heart of the Book
So who was the muscle behind Gold’s Gym?
“The real muscle is everyone who supported and believed in Gold’s Gym.”

- THE MEMBERS.
- THE EMPLOYEES.
- THE TRAINERS.
- THE LICENSEES.
- THE FRANCHISEES.
- THE PHOTOGRAPHERS.
- THE CHARACTERS.
- THE FRIENDS.
- THE MAGAZINES.
And the millions of people around the world who walked into a Gold’s Gym, trained there, worked there, believed in the brand or proudly wore the name.
This may be Tim’s story.
But it is also their story.
